Purpose
US Cargo Solutions is seeking a driven and resourceful Sales & Brokerage Manager to lead the development of our new freight brokerage division. This unique hybrid role blends sales leadership with operational freight execution — ideal for someone ready to build from the ground up within a company that already operates a successful asset-based fleet. As the first hire into our brokerage team, you’ll work side-by-side with ownership to shape systems, processes, and strategy — and take direct responsibility for acquiring shippers and running daily operations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and grow your own freight book (spot and contract)
- Generate and close new shipper leads independently
- Manage freight from A to Z: post, quote, book, track, and follow up
- Source, negotiate, and maintain strong carrier relationships
- Help design our internal TMS and workflow setup
- Oversee load documentation, billing, and margin tracking (support provided)
- Lay the groundwork for team growth and broker recruitment
Required qualifications
- 3–6 years of brokerage or carrier sales experience (shipper relationships a big plus)
- Strong sales and communication skills with follow-through
- Self-starter who thrives in a lean or early-stage environment
- Solid grasp of U.S. freight dynamics and brokerage operations
- Experience balancing customer needs with carrier capacity in real-time
